Beau Jangles Needed a Boot!

Beau was rescued off the streets in Arizona with badly damaged rear legs. His rear legs had to be amputated due to the damage. Beau has two speeds: fast and asleep.

"Thank goodness for his boot!!!! Beau was getting rug and floor burns when he wasn't in his wheels. The boot is a God sent. It saves his stumps from being bruised going down the stairs. Even though he can raise himself up, when he gets going and does his pirouettes the boot prevents him from doing any damage. That's why I named him Mr. Beau Jangles. He dances and spins and just enjoys being." Kind regards, Ruth and Mr. Beau

Henrietta, the 427 lb. Hog

Henrietta was turned over to a North Carolina pig rescue with a severe wound on her front left leg and a frozen elbow. The rescue contacted us to sculpt a custom bandage for her leg that would allow regular dressing changes and protect her leg 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Custom Boot for Harry

Harry's Custom Boot for Hock/Tarsus Support & His Foot Wound

"Harry is a rescued White German Shepherd that I brought back with me from Puerto Rico in 2009 when he was approximately 6 mo old. He had a severely injured back paw; most of the pad was gone. Once we brought him home,we worked with our local Vet to do as much as could be done to repair the damage. In 2014 we contacted Schön and she was able to make a Tarsal Boot specifically for Harry and his problem. The end results have been nothing short of a miracle! The boot takes the pressure off of the area where the lesion was occurring so the lesion is gone! For the first time in six years Harry no longer has to wear a bandage on his paw! The boot is so easy to put on and take off and I can tell how much more comfortable he is. I never thought we would see the day when Harry didn't have a lesion on his foot. Schön has made Harry's life so much better and Harry and I will forever be grateful to her."

Golden Retriever Wearing Rigid Splint

Venus' Osteosarcoma Solution

Venus: an 11-year-old golden retriever.
Diagnosis: osteosarcoma, right forelimb.
Goal of Product: stabilize limb to avoid spontaneous fracture.
Delivery: a casting was made of Venus' leg, and the internal support was fitted 3 days later. The rigid splint was fitted 2 days after the initial support delivery.
Results: she happily moved through her day.

Venus' Story

Venus' was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma. Her veterinarian contacted us to make a custom wrist/carpal solution for her right front leg. Venus was a 12 years old Golden Retriever, her vet and owner wanted to give her a better quality of life during her last months. The solution we created allowed for remolding of the external splint as the tumor grew in her leg. The leg wrap itself was adjustable and allowed for the increase in the tumor.

Here is a video of Venus immediately after her splint was fitted. Our instructions to her "Dad" were: now you will have to watch and control her. In the past, the pain caused her to move slowly.

Venus - 1 Month Later

As her Osteosarcoma progressed, the external splint was remolded to accommodate the growing tumor, and the splint became a two-part external splint, completely encapsulating and supporting her leg. She continued to wear the internal protective layer to ensure no tissue breakdown.
